Harry B. Verr wrote:...sad for you Live 4 users that is!! Props Reason totally crushes, pulverizes, and destroys Live. End of story. There's probably a bit of annihilation going on in there too. While Live is generally targeted towards entry-level shmucks and DJ wanker non-musician types, in time, they'll learn of and pine for the full power that only a virtual rack system like Reason can deliver. The last statistic I believe I heard was that the mean time to outgrow Live is hovering at right around two weeks.
In my line of music without us " DJ wanker non-musician types" there woudlnt be much music ... we play it for the people...be it radio or be it in the clubs.....so u " the real musiscian" get heard
and what kind of tracks have u produced that are so great to listen too?
maybe ive listened to them in the record store and thought what the fuck are they selling this crap for, i can make better tracks than this dickhead...wich u obviously are...
Hell why dont i buy LIve and go out and make my own tracks......
Taaa cheers
smell ya later

this thread is the most utter bollocks I have ever read. shut up about the reason live debate. everyones different and likes different things...sad for you Live 4 users that is!! Bash whatever you like.
Reason, Live, Cubase, Mac, windows,......
There is always something to insult or kick down.
In the end there will be so much to bitch about, all you can do is bitchin till you become one.
Dont compare Live with Reason. COMBINE them.
I agree the rack on reason is powerfull, but with Live 4 you can make a virtually endless set of midi data with a simple sequencer that has more power, but uses almost no cpu.

I can see that reason is a powerful bit of kit, but I just don't like it. when I've used it, it just feels like I'm playing a 'toy rack' game. it just seems to me that the real fun of working on a computer is lost when you try and make it feel like something it's not. Live is cool cos you can go full screen and it's like your laptop has become one big groovebox, a groovebox with load of really cool tricks. I think that ableton have done something that most software companies are afraid to do, make software that isn't trying to be hardware. Also, much respect to ableton for making it all fit on one screen, I hate the window jungle that comes with using cuebase.
anyway, each to their own. I'm going to the pub.

hey, i have to give an excuse..
yes, i was in a level (don't remind), in which i said words i shame about now ... :/ i'm sorry for that, these words were in a heavy way too strange..
my initial mind was, that you could hear every reason instrument after gained some experience with this tool - and that has made me angry, don't know why anymore. but it's obsolete, if you use your own samples.. reason users aren't fools
) gimme a chance, please
yes, i know, i was a dumb ass to post these words, yeah *ashamed* about myself.. .. ..
excuse..

People spending time trying to rationalize their own choices by putting down others... pfffff...... all this bashing, where do they get the time to actually use and create with the stuff, hmm??
I've been using Live & Reason together since the rev 1.x days of both. They both pony up beautifully, and serve different purposes in the end.... with the addition of VSTi to Live, I've been cracking open Reason *just* a tad less, but I put that down to "learning the new ropes in Live"...
Both apps are only limited by a user's creativity. I know of people producing albums using 90%+ Reason-only, and others who have moved to using Live almost exclusively. There is no way to disparage either piece of software, just knowing their strengths and weaknesses, and how they fit for you. Used together, I must say, very little is missing from the toolset....
I also own and use both SX and Logic. Also for different purposes (and depending on who I'm tracking or collaborating with). If you told me today that I had to go off into exile on a lonely island with only two of the above four apps... I'd probably take Live and Reason (those, and a belly-dancer, but that's another story
These days, I start most of my compositions in either or both of those apps (the belly-dancer plays the muse
Once you've used Live & Reason together, you ouldn't want to revert. Kind of like a two-button wheel mouse in that respect...
peace,
tribalogical
I use Reason for producing my loops and samples, and Live for eventual postproducing and live gigging setup.
End of the story.
Want to hear something made this way and give a little sense to this troll topic?
Here are some beta previews of mine:

so high pt. 2 (where you at)
sunset paradise
And it's about time people stopped talking bulls**t... use whatever you want, but make your own creative/soulful music and stfu.
Thanks,

To the original poster...
You see, if you could be bothered to get up off your pious backside and actually think how OTHER people may use something like Live, you may work out what is that Live can do that Reason can't.
That doesn't make Reasonj crap, it just means that Live can don certain things that Reason won't. Following so far? Okay. Want an example? Groovy, how about this... Say, umm, someone want's to take a live input (a musician that plays a 'real' instrument for example) and wishes to effect it, capture some of the performance into quantised clips, etc, etc, etc. Can you do that with reason? Nope. Does that make it crap? Nope.
Get a clue dimwit, what you know about making music can be put on a postage stamp in inch high letters. Grow up.
