Saving clips with envelope

Does anyone know if it's posssible to save a clip with all its envelope settings independent of the track?....so it can be imported into other tracks.

I don't think you can really, the clip envelopes are song specific, depending on what plugins you have in running in the specific track where the clip resides. I don't know why you can't do it with things like volume and transpose because these don't rely on plugins.

There is a kind of workaround though. Create a set called "clip archive" and copy and paste your favourite enveloped clips into it.
Then when you want to recall a clip setting, you close the tune you are working on, (after saving of course) open the clip archive tune, copy the ones you need, re-open your tune and paste.

It's a bit of a pain but it's better that re-doing an hours worth of painstaking clip envelope stuff.

no, i think the only thing that is saved with the clip are the warp markers. as Martyn said, the enveloppes depend on the track structure.

I think the manual is a little decieving the way it suggests you can save the current clip settings with the sample...

Good suggestion setting up the "Clip Archive" set.

There's also always the option to consolidate the clip as a new sample which can then be reloaded in future sets.

while you mention it - this is actually why I've never found this to be a problem - I pretty much consolodate everything I come up with - even if I'm creating loops from Absynth or whatever - I might come up with a pattern then as I'm scrolling through the presets when I come to one I like I resample it to an audio clip, then change the presets - sometimes dont even bother saving changes to the absynth/vsti patch once it's audio - it kind of keeps things flowing and saves using the same presets too often (so you taylor it to the track IOW)

I only tend to actually leave any vstis playing sequences towards the end of the sound choosing part - when I've chosen my sounds and dont expect to change it much more so I dont need to conserve CPU.

ALSO - remember you can send the midi output from midi tracks to other tracks so you can have empty clips of just automation playing other tracks - this only helps for midi tracks though

Sounds like a good operating basis you've got... keeps the samples fresh.

In reality consildating audio in Live is really a rendering action.

Why not record some blank audio insert it into a clip.... Then copy the desired clips envelope and paste it into the blank clip and save that clip in an Envelopes folder... I was doing this a while ago to make gated 16th envelopes and etc...
