Just an idea like that

It could be great to see system config of those who encounters probs.

Maybe we will find something that way.

Like sound card, computer components, os and os version.

I'm running the L7 demo on my Intel QX6700 2.66 quad core, 2 gigs of RAM,
with an M-Audio Audiophile firewire. Windows XP Professional, SP2. At the
moment, I'm even running at 44.1kHz.
Like I mentioned, the project that's giving me trouble in L7 works just fine in
L6. It uses quite a substantial amount of samples (Reason RDK and Pianos
refills).

When I talked about a lot of samples, I was refering to micro editing of a lot of wav files, I have no probs with project loaded with big sound librairies.

Let see some others config, I've tested my motu traveler over my m audio audiophile firewire and the project was spiking less.

Yeah, I know - I replied to that post earlier. My point was that the situation
was almost opposite in my case. Usually, I only use samples for drums,
whereas the rest is soft synths, audio clips - and micro editing, lots of
automation. But for this project, I used samples for almost everything.

live 7 stuttering and glitching with cpu load low or high, tried several different songs that run perfect in live 6 but glitch in 7. You can see the spike happening in the cpu count but even at low levels it still glitches. Even if you drag a few samples audio into the session view as you change scenes a glitch is almost certain.

ASIO vs. MME

Post by brockmic » Thu Dec 06, 2007 10:28 pm

I had the same problems as well...Luckily I fixed it right away. I don't know if this will help you but it worked for me...

- Make sure you are using an ASIO driver. This helps the CPU load TREMENDOUSLY.
-I also have an external sound interface (though I am assuming almost everyone else does too)...and my interface just happens to support the ASIO driver.

If you don't know anything about ASIO, look it up...very useful information. It's the difference between your computer having to produce sound multiple times vs. once...or thats the jist I got. Let me know if this works out for any of you.

Yes - I'm using the exact same setting as in Live 6, and confirming that I
was on ASIO drivers was the first thing I did. From the looks of all the
response here, I'm pretty confident they'll have to put out a patch pretty
soon. Another bit of info that seems relevant here, is that the project I got
the spikes with was pristinely Live 6 - I didn't tweak it at all in Live 7. All I
did was open it and start playback - after checking the settings, of course.

only in later beta's and not as bad as this..

also i feel that 7.0.1 takes way more CPU than the beta's..

yep. here too

it's a project I've been working on for about a month and this is the first beta it's happened in

BTW - this should be in 'bugs and problems' - although to be honest I think it should still be in the beta forum!
