There is no reason to get rude about this.
The statement is, a Windows PC is faster so in this way it's better.
Fact: many pro's use MAC and many pro's use PC, i don't know the exact balance, and that's of no importance.
Making music is far more importante.

Who is this d*khead that responds to a completely valid, intelligent conversation with such a ridiculously insecure and rude reply? That person should go find another forum that has some equivalent juveniles, so the rest of us can discuss real issues such as altiVec support in Live.

There's always SOMEBODY out there that has to be like that. The word Troll comes to mind...

I Love OSX more than OS9 and far more than Windows XP.
Still the fact is: Live is slow on MAC because it's not optimized for AltiVec.
And we are here to discuss this.

Yes i did try Live under 10.2, but had no full test, because my MOTU has no OSX drivers yet. I'm still waiting for those PCI-324 drivers. Can't get my Emagic AMT8 midi-interface to work in OSX. So it's back to OS9

I foresee a great future for Live on OSX, but we still need that optimalisation.

A lot of people in the past think that the slow performance of the Flash Player under OSX was a problem of Macromedia.
Try to install OSX Jaguar and see the difference (Same player under Jaguar 200% faster).

What I mean is that probably Ableton can inproove Live, but OSX is a terrible time consuming unoptimized system. I have a dual 800mhz G4 with a Audiophile 2496 on it... and the performance on every kind of software compared to OS9 version on the same machine are slower. (Graphic, audio, video, everything).

Apple have to work on it. Also after this first release of jaguar.

(I know... my English is terrible... sorry).

This is not true anymore, downloaded the new OSX driver and it's working straight away, no need to reboot or anything like that.

earlier i accidentally said my 450 TiBook, i meant my 500 TiBook...i was confusing it with my 450 g4 tower....but even with the 450 tower, i had great results...

i don't know what else to say.

altivec would be nice, but give em time, they've been wonderful with updating their software so far...
