behringer works with children only and has NO quality control system whatsoever.
Unfair on Behringer

wheres the evidence for the child labour thing? In the videos above from AT magazine, i didnt see any children. (its not a great magazine but the video does seem reasonably even handed) Behringer doesnt really do anything that a million other companies dont do. In fact the free market encourages it.SubFunk wrote:nearly all of them produce in china, but behringer is the only one who has 'bought a town with children' and no matter if china or not, quality control is important and companies even producing in china have usually a very high quality control standard and they employ adults.husker wrote:and which manufacturer doesn't get there stuff build in the same factories in China?

previous position as dept. manager at unnamed pro audio / recording retailer, saw many many many brand new behringer pieces fail right out of the box, including a keyboard amp that made a very loud, bullhornish sound when plugged into power, new out of the box.
literally 5 of 10 new products would have issue.
they make alot of gear with alot of bang for the buck, but general quality control seems to be lacking.
i would always make sure the customers realized they were getting what they were paying for, but honestly never compared it to a mackie, or soundcraft product.
ill never forget the day i had a guy come in touting how he only bought high end gear, then proceeded to tell me he had never heard of allen and heath, and then purchased several hundred dollars of behringer gear.....
seeing him come back with 6 or 7 non functioning pieces a few weeks later, after talking to him about the quality issues, was priceless.
im by no means an expert, but can speak firsthand, with audio gear, the term, " you get what you pay for" seems to really be true.
alot of my friends thought i was crazy for buying a $550 interface that only came with drivers, and no recording software (ultralite), howver alot of those same friends have replaced thier m audio cards several times, while (knock on wood) my ultralite has held up great, without issue.....
same thing to say about the xone 62 i use, 5 years later, and i have yet to replace a fader.......

I used to own a Behringer mixer. I didn't like it much. Wonky build, bad EQ. I traded it for some ancient synths a while back.
When I got to wanting a hardware mixer again this spring, I took a tour of the shops look at the ~10 channel range. One place didn't even want to sell me a - 10 quid more expensive - Behringer, citing the same problems my old one had, bad EQ and poorly built. He recommended a Tapco instead. I don't know if that's just cos he gets a bigger commision on the Tapco or what, but it does make you think... what if I actually encountered an honest salesman?
I ended up getting a second-hand Soundcraft instead. Same price, more channels. It's great.

Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

funny you say that, i would get the questionable eye when i sold / told customers what they actually needed, instead of upselling just for the paycheck.
ive always found that being honest will get you a better, and less returned paycheck anyhow.....
but i guess thats why i dont sell cars, and why i could barly stand working in retail with people who are only out to sell what the current profit center is.....
God forbid people actually get decent shit.....

surely working in audio sales you know that motu rates as the low end of 'pro' gear?RandomBeat wrote:

and it comes with an audio only version of performer doesn't it? (os x only i know)
not hatin, i use an ultralite myself without complaints, but really, it's status is only as the cheapest decent interface out there

I owned a behringer mixer for about 4 years bofore it crapped out. I guess it probably should have lasted longer than 4 years but I didn't pay all that much for it.
I have a new behringer now, based on the fact that I had to replace the old one and I had to have certain routing abilities like 2 pre fade sends and some bussing but at a budget. it definetly works but I do get alot of noise from it... haven't figured out of it's my gear or if it's the mixer but I don't recall getting so much line noise in the past.

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

This is really a funny thing. When GNU and Linux Trovalds started *cloning* UNIX, they became heroes, fighting against capitalism and Microsoft. When Behringer comes and saves the day for musicians with almost no cash, they're copycats with cheap stuff selling shit.SubFunk wrote:come on, this is the most known facts... ALL designs are [now] nearly 100% copies and used to be 100% copies of companies yes like mackie, focusrite, genelec, etc.
Of course they're into making making lots of money too, but I couldn't care less if they're copying anyone. Who gives a damn if Mackie is losing money. They're not innovators or anything, they're just making stock stuff a 15 year old with a soldering iron could make on a few weekends.
If you think Behringer sucks so much, open it up by yourself and replace all the OP-Amps with high-end stuff. You would be surprised.
A decent piece of Behringer audio gear is the ADA8000 - 8 channel ADAT io. Very similar to the Alesis AI-3. Some may say they ripped off Alesis with this 'clone'...
In reality, the ADA8000 uses the Alesis (Wavefront) manufactured ADAT chipset and ADC's and DAC's - Alesis sell them the chips...they are hardly being 'ripped off'.
A decent piece of Behringer gear at a decent price. I ain't complaining.

Its not the best stuff out there. But it gets the job done, unlike other cheapo companies I could mention.
