i just watched the video demo and i'm near sold... I was originally eyeing an SL37, but that speed dial?! fuck!

the larger drum pads seem nice too.

alas, the SLx's are the most configured Automaps available for live (since they've been in since v5) something tells me the Compact one won't be as intuitive.

...but that speed dial...

Keep in mind though that you probably can only use the speed dial on the novation wrapped versions of plug-ins. I'm not positive about that, but I think so.

I think the ReMote SL Compact is great. Super easy to use, read, and program. I use both automap and midi control. The Compact SL is the perfect complimentary piece to my Mackie Control Universal with Live.

I originally ordered both the ReMote SL 25 and the Compact. The Compact is better built and seems to be quite the improvement over the original SL. The ReMote SL 25 went back to the retailer for full refund.

eBay
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

i just went to my local guitar center and they have the compact 25sl. those drum pads feel good on the fingers all i need to know now is how well they actually work within the program. the keys feel amazing like most novation controller keys do. the knobs seem to feel a bit better but not a huge difference while the sliders feel the same.

by the way they are clearing out e-mu xboard 49s for $90US. That comes with the full retail version of proteus x2, the mo phat x, planet earth, and protean drums library. proteus x2 goes for 200 by itself so thats already a steal.

I was thinking of getting rid of my 25SL for a Compact, too. The drum pads on the 25 SL just don't cut it. We'll see. I like having all of the sliders/knobs on my SL though...so.... whatever.

There are no sliders on the Remote Compact series. You must be looking at the regular SL's.

that sucks. if he actually played with one and the other he would have noticed the difference, but he had to perpetrate like that.

but the thing is with guitar center associates is some are knowledgeable and some are there for the quick hustle. if you find a highly knowledgable one be loyal to that person because not only will they give you good service but after a while they hook it up with the pricing. too bad one of the people i used to buy off of is no longer there.

Just watched the video. Speed dial looks nice. Perhaps the tempo button that does jack already could be rigged to do this with a patch?

The switch between plug-ins and mixer controls is a nice touch too. Also something that looks potentially implementable/hackable for use in the sl 25.

The biggest plus of all though would require so major physical work- putting the usb in somewhere on the side so that the laptop doesn't smack against it.

Looks like they have been paying attention to feedback. Don't know if I feel like beta testing another one of their products, even though this looks sexy in 49 keys. I'll wait for their trigger finger mockup with the same technology, since it seems obvious to me they after some major Ableton customer attention.
