ok, on closer examination, while there are no cables in the connectivity package that appear to support stereo audio from one source and video (has to be analog) from another, it would be easy enough to put a cable together that does so.

Those things are crazy. I'll ask around and see what I can find out.

Well, if your laptop has an analog video out, then perhaps you can do it. My powerbook only has S-video out, so it wouldn't work with mine. That thing is looking for like the yellow RCA plug of a component video cable. It comes with what look like adapters for the RCA to 1/8" for portable DVD players.

If your computer lacks an analog video out, perhaps you can outfit it with some sort of video card/interface.

I want one of those. Makes Orbitals glasses look like NHS thick rims! (With some slick re-wiring, you could have cueing through the ear phones, too...)

Hmmm. So, with these "face monitors" you could feasibly pack away your laptop's screen, well out of sight from everyone. Then on your controller, you can assign some mad midiStroke or Bomes action and achieve complete mouselessness - and - once there - take things a step further by assigning knobs and buttons so that you actually can check your email, all while looking like you're tweaking a sick filter...

This is revolutionary.

neat idea, but at 320 x 240 resolution you're not going to have much success

yeh, mebbe-- what I'm thinking is you set up a second 'virtual monitor' then use the function key to output it to the VGA out, then you'd use something like one of these to affect the conversion to the glasses:

but, yes, it might be that what you could actually fit in the view may be just a softsynth UI, or as SDMcB indicates, an email app UI :)
