fxp files are the presets for VST's not the actual vst themselves. (I think)

Mac versions

Post by membrain » Wed Dec 12, 2007 3:08 am

Make sure they are the mac version of the VST. Have a look in the folder

mac hd/library/audio/plugins/VST

do the files have the extension .vst ?

If that's ok, go to live preferences/file folder/ and in the plugin sources section - make sure use vst plugins is lit and rescan plugins.

Any luck?

Are you running an IntelMac? If so, your plugins have to be UB...

Those are pc files

.exe is a windows executable

There is a few ways these plugins get distributed. If it's a complex/commercial vst it will have an installer that you run and it will place various files where they need to go. Otherwise it might just be the vst or audio unit file that you have to place in the right folder in the library.

Mac files will be blah.dmg, or blah.pkg. They might come compressed as a blah.sit or blah.zip , after they get put in the vst or component folder they will be blah.component or blah.vst

They won't ever be blah.exe, you may have downloaded spyware or a trojan that someone has renamed and posted as a desirable program so people install it. Don't worry, it won't work on a mac, it's just web crap.

What plugins do you want?
