slow video playback

I am trying to sync sound to a video but the video plays super slow how can i fix this , do i need a faster hard drive.

my specs are Dell vostro 1700 core 2 Duo 1.4hz 4gs of ram

email Ableton's support about it; their video playback is broken on some graphics chipsets (Nvidia).

Thanks I will, but does anyone know what the performance increase would be if I upgrade from a 5400rpm hd to a 7200.
