Live 7.01 : screen latency 1 sec behind audio

Post by Wheelie » Fri Dec 14, 2007 6:38 pm

I'm sure it can't just be me but in 7.01 the screen is well behind the audio, actually a bit more than a second....

I can remember 6 being like this until an update fixed it... how comes we have to pay and beta test this stuff, didn't use to be like this with Ableton, they used to release stable/working versions.... guess its marketing for Christmas....

I'm also having this exact problem with screen latency. Will anything address this problem other than an update?

i also have this problem, along with audio glitches, unusually high cpu usage, etc.

Is it possible that you guys are utilizing the delay compensation feature?

Screen drawing is not compensated in the same way that the audio is...

So if you have compensation active, the screen will always be off from the audio

Although I don't see why that couldn't be fixed/changed

The higher the Audio Buffers setting the choppier the screen drawing regardless of Latency Compensation being set or not. But this shouldn't produce a lag of 1 second. Do you guys utilize Live at a high CPU load? I could well imagine that they lowered the priority of the GUI drawing to increase the priority of audio/midi streaming. In Cubase you once (still?) could chose this yourself.

No use of delay compensation, buffer size 88 samples. In general using less than 20% of cpu. Notice laying down a track I can't watch a beat counter as it is very off visually from the audio. This is in addition to all kinds of pops and glitches that occur intermittently when a mouse or midi command is used.

same here...with Ableton 6.10 on a g5...

I tried any sort of combination of delays compensations and buffers...with no result...

waiting next year for Abl 7...with so many ppl ready to pay to be beta testers at least they should fix some problems by then.

agreed, poor show releasing beta version like this

its nothing to do with delay compensation / buffer size etc, as I had said earlier there was exactly the same problem with 5 or 6, and an update came out which fixed it...

I'll check for this tomorrow.

I seem to remember having a similar problen with version 5 I think.

I believe it was fixed with an update.

I'm with you on the release problems.

Just the issue with NI synths is enough for me.

This version should not have been released yet
