I got it to run 40 tracks with no glitch at all with the cpu resting at around 90-91% after it spiked to 100%. NICE!

I get crackles with 8 tracks and 67% but peaks of 74%. If I have intensive threads (more CPU load) running while playing Live... I have not crackles and 48% of CPU load with 8 tracks!
Why? Because the processor don't jump to higher clock frequency. You can check this with CoolBook (disabled but monitoring frequencies of CPU). When you add CPU load, Live is more stable and show less CPU use.
I think that Ableton must to work the audio engine to get better performance with Santa Rosa processors.
Maybe with next Live update?

Could you switch out your hardrive to a 7200rpm, to see what difference that makes?Timur wrote:1)

I just bought CoolBook after reading this thread and now the meter shows 111% and the sound is distorted! Do I need to change from the default settings in CoolBook?sparky606 wrote: 1) Ableton Live CPU Meter 66%

you have to add a cpu/voltage pair and then test it with the cpu test that came with your download to verify it's stability. I set mine to the highest available 2400mhz and a voltage of 1.15, temperature limit of 80 degrees...I don't use Coolbook if/when running on battery though.....
MacBook Pro M1, 16GB Ram, 1TB.
Don't get your hopes up adding 1Gb when you already have 2Gb won't do anything, especially concerning this test.sparky606 wrote: Very disappointing - I have ordered an extra 1Gb memory as a result.
