If you buy a suite, you'll have to sell the suite.
Thats why there is a serial to unlock the whole suite, all instruments are tied to that.
Ableton hasn't stated that afaik but it does make sense. Otherwise we could make money by buying the suite and selling off individual instruments.

My considerations are like this at the moment:

1. Live 7 Boxed Upgrade: 329 Euro
2. Live 7 Suite Boxed Upgrade: 599 Euro

3. Live 7 Boxed Upgrade + Cubase 4.1 Competitive Upgrade: 695 Euro
4. Live 7 Suite Boxed Upgrade + Cubase 4.1 Competitive Upgrade: 965 Euro

Difference between 1/2 or 3/4 = 270 Euro for Upgrades, strangely the difference for full versions is 300 Euro. On the other hand the difference between the Downloaded Suite is 150 Euro for the Full version, but only 100 Euro for the Upgrade version, so getting the Download version doesn't seem to make much sense for Upgraders. Anyway, buying a Padkontrol (200 Euro = difference between Upgrade and Full Version) including Live LE plus an Upgrade of Live makes the Padkontrol virtually free of charge.

Since I already put about 1000 Euro into NI Komplete 4/5 + Kore 1/2 and like to have Cubase for Arrangement and final Mix my pondering goes wether I want to pay the additional 270 Euro for the Suite or not...

Hi Timur,

Do you own Live 6 or Live 6 LE? It seems your prices are too high.
I got 299 for the Suite download and 399 for the Boxed download.
In both cases I get 20 Euros discont because I already own Operator.
Additionally I have got 99 Euros for Live 7 download and 129 Boxed (no EIC Licence included)

Just splash some dosh mate. Talking for so long about it takes away the fun of finally owing it.. at least for me.

I woke up yesterday and suddenly decided just to download it: havent stopped screwing around with it for about 8 hours non stop. Thats for me the fun of impulsive buying... if it works out...

Thanks for caring Pasha! :) I only own Live 6 LE (which came free with my Padkontrol), that's the reason for the higher prices (including the Padkontrol though).

I cant believe you even doubt!

I was really laying it on thick before Live 7 came out about Logic and how cheap they made it etc, really thinking Ableton was in trouble because they couldnt match it etc

but the upgrade to Suite price they worked out is pretty impressive inthe end for what you get

thing is, I dont know if this is an introductory price or the upgrade will stay at that price, but I wouldnt want to take the risk - my mate tried adding the Suite to the checkout and the price was 339 or whatever it was from 6 to 7 + suite download, then removed 1 synth from the checkout and it went up by something like $600 US

it's a massive deal

I'd been planning to get Reason, but then decided to go with Logic instead as its a great price for a lot of product. Then Live 7 was announced and I went with the Live Suite upgrade instead - as it gives plenty of new toys to play with at a lower price than Logic and it means I don't have to learn a new package.

I've spent the money I saved on a PureMagnetik subscription which gives even more new toys and is integrated with Live. All of which will keep me busy for a long, long time.

Depends on what you want though, I mainly use Live for dj'ing and all the other bits and pieces are just something extra for me to play about with.

Everybody wants different things, I suppose.
If you work only within Live, the Suite is an excellent value.

But if, like me, you want to use other hosts as well, and have your instruments available there as well, the Suite is flawed... the instruments, like Logic Pro, are locked to the host with which they came. You can get around this a bit with Rewire, but I'm not a big fan of Rewire...

I try not to do that these days, since I use a couple of other hosts depending on mood, so I got the Live 6 upgrade (I'm on 5) + Live 7 upgrade (box), and NI Komplete Synths. Now, my soft synth library is more than complete across all my hosts. I ended up spending about $150 more this route (than the suite), but the freedom that comes with it is worth it to me.

It's a personal call, right?

I upgraded to the suite for 2 main reasons.

1. To thank and support the Abes with some $$ for creating a product that reinspired me after Cubase made me stop working on music for several years.

2. To get Sampler and Operator.

Everything else is a bonus as far as I am concerned.

So you think you'll find an usage for Electric Tension & Analog?
However I completely agree on tip #1!
