warping question

Post by leonidas » Tue Dec 18, 2007 11:32 pm

ive just had a go at warping some songs, ive put a warp marker on the first beat of each track, (mainly daft punk sort of stuff) and ive found that the songs stay in time with the metronome and other warped songs with no other warp markers throughout the rest of the song, ive looked on youtube and read about warping but everything ive seen suggests that you add warp markers throughout the track, im thinking that if it stays in time then no problem, im just wondering if im missing something.

also if i have a song with a long intro (no beats) and wanted to mix the intro into another track how do you go about setting it up so the intro starts and plays in time with whatever i want to mix it into, because i put a marker on the first beat if i start from before the first marker it sounds like a train wreck when the beat kicks in (the intro also sounds a mess because its out) hope that made sense.

thanks.

Most of the songs i warp, do not need extra warp markers. Just marker 1 on the first beat and then move marker 5 or 17 don't make it a warpmarker, so no doubleclick..just click and move) or whatever to the right spot and it should be ok, if it's a fixed tempo song! Go through the whole song after that, just to check and if needed, make tiny adjustments towards the end of the song. If the song is a bitch, you have to put warpmarkers all over the place. Songs ripped from vinyl for example. It all depends on the genre and the source. Get experienced and you'll be warping a (dance) track in far less then a minute! For the intro; do the above stuff and just move the startingpoint (litte arrow pointing to the right) before the first warpmarker. Move it to the point where the intro begins. Only works if the intro is in the same tempo as the song though! Hope this helps you.
