Out of sync vocals. Recorded vox - Mac imported to Logic PC

Hi,

I recorded my vocals in Live on my Mac with the project tempo set to 88 bpm warp on, I then imported the vocal recordings to Logic on my PC with the same tempo 88 bpm and the vocals are out of sync with the track by a little bit.

How would I figure exactly how much they are out?

Just nudge the audio in Logic in small steps like 1/128th of a note until it sits right. I'm assuming this is possible because it is in Cubase and most other traditional DAWS.

Is the vocal behind the beat or ahead of the beat?

Did you record at a different latency compared in one DAW compared to another. For example if you recorded one at 256 samples and the other at 512 samples, that is about a 12-14ms delay.

Logic has a set delay + - in ms - I have it sitting pretty good but I'm anal.

I also might have to do more work this way so I would like to be spot on.

I used a Toneport into Live on the Mac. The original tracks were done on the PC and I bounced down a stereo file to use in the Macbook - it's portable and I needed to track the vocals away from the PC running Logic hence the problem.

trust me, nudging in 1/128th of a note quantization is miniscule ! Many people nudge 1/64th of a note which is still a tiny delay.

You are correct to want to achieve (near) perfection. If you know it's not quite dead on the sweet spot, chances are some others will hear or feel it too.

I had a drummer track some real live drums for me. He recorded them in his RME Fireface 800 at 64 samples (damned good interface) but my Echo Indigo card is only really comfortable with 256 samples in Live, so I nudged it 3 times at 1/128th of a note and it was perfect. The drummer actually demanded it more than me, I did notice a slight difference at first, but nudged it once and thought it was great bit the drummer insisted I was making him sound shit and behind the beat and suggested I nudge it 2 more times at 1/128th. I have to say that I did notice it was tighter and it stopped him from moaning and he then endorsed me using his drums in my track.

They sound pretty good I just like to know or I'm always going to second guess myself.
