Hello
Let me first describe the scenario.
I'm using Ableton to DJ with and so I drag the songs into the channels and then play them out through at M-Audio 10 channel soundcard into the carious channels of a DJ mixer.
All is fine except after a while of a song not being played i.e. a month, when I drag it into a channel in Ableton it still has the warp markers in but it is greyed out and ableton re-scans the file. This is ok although I don't understand why ableton needs to re-scan the file when it hasn't changed but what is not ok is that this process causes the currently playing files to skip occasionaly until it either finishes re-checking the file or I delete the file from the channel to stop the re-scanning.
Is there a way to stop this or to assign most of the system resources to playback rather than to re-scanning files. Its really annoying especially when you're live infront of an audience and the music starts cutting in and out. My laptop is nearly new so its not a case of it being a slow laptop and also even the slowest of machines can play 2 mp3's at once its not exactly using a lot of resources. What I assume is happening is that Ableton is trying to re-scan the file as quickly as possible and this is using all the system resources meaning that the playing file sometimes skips.
Please help
Many thanks
David
Ableton re-scans files all the time and then skips.

hi
live just does this - the re-scanning after files have nt been used for a while - at least it happens with me
nothing skips though - have you tried increasing your buffer size in the preferences?
cheers
