HEAD SCRATCHING PROBLEM........please help

thanks in advance for reading this.......does anyone have any ideas?

setup: 2 macbooks, 2 edirol soundcards firewire, midi cable

i have used this set up to sync 2 laptops for a while now and have never had any issues, everything has been locked in and synced really well.

Recently i have been getting the msg below (usually mid set!).
I have tried all brand new cables, swapping master/slave even standing on my head with one arm behind my back but i still keep getting the meassage.......any ideas?
