Here are some of my favorites:

Venetian Snares - My Downfall
Liars - s/t
El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead
The Tuss - Rushup Edge
Boris w/ Michio Kurihara - Rainbow (also the best show I saw this year)
Distance - My Demons

And yes, I loved the Burial album but I was more impressed by Boxcutter and
his album Glyphic. Great beats and production. More people should check this guy out.

It's been a pretty skinny year for music, lack of spare cash (and I refuse to steal music that I like from people that I respect)

Radiohead - In Rainbows
The Cinematic Orchestra - Ma Fleur
Foy Vance - Hope

Also have to mention Sigor Rós, Bjork 'Volta' and Ulrich Schnauss

You guys are all over it already I'm just adding my vote.

best songs of 2007

"I'm so hood" - DJ Khaled feat T-Pain, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and Plies

"Pop Bottles" - Birdman feat Lil Wayne and Jadakiss

"Kiss kiss" Chris Brown feat T-Pain

there's a lot more I just haven't watched BET in the last couple of days
adonis i was shocked u didn't say kanye and t-pain good life because i think that was a better song overall.

if we are talking BET content then what about Alicia Keys and Junior Reid, "no one". that song is hot in the clubs and in jamaican airwaves.

also mims, junior reid, baby cham, "this is why i'm hot remix"

and you can't ront on 50 cent "i get money" without that audio two sample it wouldn't be as hot.without the crazy synth line it would be just boring.

Good album - have you seen them live? They were playing here in Berlin same night as Underworld and by the time Underworld cancelled their tour, the Editors gig was sold out :( From the video of them on Jools Holland they look like they could be stunning live...?

What's the deal with Burial?

I've listened, but I don't see what all they hype is. Can someone explain?

I agree. But sometimes people can point out things about music that make me understand it more, and hence appreciate it. That's why I'm askin'. It was an honest inquiry.

ok. fair enough. but, let's put it this way - what you don't like about it?
mood? swing? crackles? vocals? it's hard to mix with other records?

i'd suggest you to listen to this records again, there are so many layers in his music that will keep your ears and mind busy. and then, when it finally gets under your skin, search the net and read a couple of existing interviews with him and you'll see that story goes to whole another level.
this guy is one of very few underground pioneers left. that's why i praise his work.
