Live/Reason-Rewired....correctly routed...is it?

Post by flippo2007 » Sun Dec 23, 2007 11:01 pm

Hi There!

Im workling on my first project with Live as My Mastersequencer and Reason as my instrumentrack...BUT:

I have routed everything correctly...but one midinote from my AKAI-Pad plays two instruments at the same time...

Is ist a bug? Or am i doing something wrong?

My setup is:

*) One Midi-row in live is routed to an arpeggiator that triggers a thor synth..all in in reason. (the sound comes from an audio-row that is routed to channels in reasons hardware interface that are connected to the thor)
*) the other live row should trigger an NNXT-Sampler with drumsounds..in reason..
(the same thin here with the hardware interface in reason...)

--> But one tap on the AKAI plays the arpeggio AND the drumsounds....

Can you help?

Greetz and thank you,
Flip

my guess would be that you have the nn-xt and the thor routed into the same channels on reason's mixer. i recently went through the whole process of figuring out reason->live rewiring. check the backside of reasons mixer and make sure thor is going into channels 1/2 and nn-xt into channels 3/4, then in live change the settings accordingly for these channels.

Hi there!

Nope..i´ve done everything correctly.... and i "solved" the problem...

Wehen every part off the arrangement is in a single combinator in reason..it works.

If you have some combinators and one single instrument underneath them (that isnt inside a combinator)..like i had...the midi note triggers one instrument in a combinator and the single instrument in the rack...dont ask me why...

The other problem that was surfacing right now is that live 7 crashes, if im hopping around in the presets of a currently playing instrument in reason.... should´nt happen...should it?

Is there a weakness in the whole rewire process?

That leads me to my next question: Shoud i rely on a rewired setup wth reason in a live-Gig? With Midi-clips that trigger instruments rewired in reason?

Or should i bounce everything in audio-clips and play them within a special Live-gig-Live-Set? :-) Would be bad, because id like to compose all in live...and play the whole fileon the gig too.

Whats safer, an uses less ressources? How do you do it?

hiho!

Me again!

It´s getting worse....now different rows play different instruments in reason at the same time..... this is pretty ruining my arrangement and my composition as you can imagine :-)

So: How can i assure, that the Midi-Notes in one clip ONLY trigger notes in the rewired reason instrument they are routed to? Or am i making the same mistake in every clip again and again without realising it?

Can´t be the end of the story...because i thought reason and live are famous for working well together...

...another issue is the crashing of live almost every time im hopping around in the presets or making changes in the reason rack im rewiring to.... should i stop playing everytime i do it? Or could there be another thing causing the instable program?

Hiho!

Problem solved..thread can be closed:

*) If you have your control hardware active in both programs (live and reason) one note triggers the active instrument in live as well as the active instrument in reason....

I just deactivated my keyboard in reason.

Just as easy as that but not too easy to see, when its all new!

Thx, Flipper
