Still no announcement of Live 7

Ok, I don't know why exactly is this bugging me, but in any case:

There still isn't an announcement of Live 7 in the official Announcements forum. There's just the General forum thread "Announcement: Enjoy Live 7".

The actual Announcements forum holds all release announcements from 5.2 upwards, including the first release of version 6 and all its significant updates. But Live 7 hasn't made it there? I guess it just looks odd, especially for someone coming to check out Live for the first time.

This version of Live 7.0.1 is kind of sad. Whenever Cubase 4.1 or FL Studio was driving me completely bonkers. I'd just startup Live and make some music. I kept thinking ... someday Live will allow me to erase Cubase from my life forever! (I'll always use FL Studio).
But this release reminds me so much of a Steinberg/Native Instruments product.
I hope live doesn't "die" like Cubase, it would be so sad. I really hope Live doesn't become like a Native Instruments product (I use Kore 2 and Komplete) you know, yearly paid upgrades just for a bug fixes.
Oh and whatever happened to the Cycling '74 partership?
All I saw in 7.0.1 is the AAS parternship?

fortunately Ableton regularly put out bugfix releases - we shouldnt have to wait too long for these problems to be fixed, especially when so many people are experiencing problems

Still beta for sure. Live was my last bit of software that was almost entirely bug free, but version 7 has me wanting to just sell all my software and go back to hardware lately. I hate being a complainer about stuff like this, but my creativity time is so few and far between these days, that when a bug destroys a day's worth of work, just ticks me off.

I've felt very grateful to have been part of the alpha/beta testing and I've followed the decisions involved in this release to a degree, so I can appreciate it was a difficult decision to lock in a release date and commit to being ready in time, knowing there was a risk this would happen, but I am glad they did, it's just frustrating to be still waiting for the essential fixes to happen, especially over the disruptive holiday season - but i can see that in any commercial company that sells a product they'd have to make a release before christmas - it's the biggest retail time of the year, so they couldnt miss it

so we just have to trust that Ableton have shown in the past that they dont leave it a long time before bugfixes, so it wont be far off

but in all honesty I have to say I could really do with just making some music for a change - I have spent so long now bug reporting and dealing with crashes or glitches or CPU problems I'm not even sure how to make music any more!

one thing is for certain - I will be lobbying hard for a bug reporting system that is as transparent as possible for the future beta phases - even just a 'send' button on the bug reporter and allowing screenshots would make it a lot more painless - given that I am still now reporting bugs or updating existing ones just about every time I use Live I'd really like it soon!

but I'm sure in a few weeks it will settle down and 7.0.x will take most of the pain away!

Doesn't sound good.I was thinking of upgrading live as i just got reason 4 and it would be worth it for the drum racks and external instrument and everything else but if it's not working well there's no way.I have had bugs with the demo and everything else i've read on here has put me off.I'm getting random cpu spikes with zipper noises in the 7.01 demo so i couldn't even use it full stop.It's a shame;all these great new features and i can't even use them

I just discovered it was my remote zero causing the problem.Sorry abes,my bad

I am a happy owner of Live 6.10 but the new features will really improve my workflow,i have a couple of hardware sequencers and having to set them up all the time is a pita so i'm not using them as much and when i do i just record audio into live.Still think i'm going to wait a bit,still need to test the demo out

Oh man. My initial post has morphed into a bug gripe thread, and the Announcements post is still missing

Nevertheless, about the bugs: I agree, the Abes are going to fix things. Live 7 is on a strong functional foundation, and the feature set rocks. At the moment it just seems that it got rushed for the release, and many people are experiencing rather annoying times with it.

I guess I got lucky, I switched my main computer to a Q6600 right before upgrading Live, so although I can see the massive CPU spikes which aren't in relation to anything actually running in the project, now I suddenly have so much headroom CPU-wise that everything keeps running more or less smoothly just the same

. Still, it goes without saying it needs to be improved in order to be useful and reliable without a monster system (at the moment I can't rely on it on my laptop setup at all, for example).

In any case: don't worry too much, it's inevitably going to be better. Happy Holidays, people!
