goddamn every time i watch that performance i get chills.
didn't really like that album "speak for yourself", though..
Is this performance done with Live?
Absolutely...I work with them everyday. And Imogene Heap can definitely sing. But as someone who also is familiar with Auto-Tune and Melodyne, I have grown very aware of the sound of pitch-correction. There are a few moments where the lead vocal line bends up to a high note...and for a split-second I hear the unmistakable 'fingerprint' of pitch-correction. The formant becomes very static for a split second...like portamento has taken over her voice.haven't you ever seen someone who can actually sing?
But hey...I'm not infallible and could be completely wrong! But that's what I hear...no big deal. The finest singers in the world use pitch-correction everyday. Welcome to the Music Biz: 2008.

i was responding more to what i thought was a suggestion that some of it was canned, rather than just pitch correction and/or other fairly garden variety fx (these days). if i misunderstood the tenor of the comments, apologies (just seemed like a lot of folk weren't aware of what people like kid beyond and others are doing with live and the like).
No prob...I got to chat with Kid Beyond and play the same festival with him not too long ago...and he's a genius! Not too many cats like US understand what he's doing.
