Drum Rack:Long load times and no Multicore usage for loading

Post by Timur » Sun Dec 30, 2007 11:16 am

Live utilizes only one (1) CPU when loading multiple samples concurrently onto Drum Racks, which makes Live not responding for upto a minute (depending on the number of files) while one core remains completely idle! This should be changed to that Live utilizes all available cores to load samples into a Rack/Set. Loading the same number of samples directly into Audio tracks as clips only takes about 3 seconds, but takes 30 seconds with a Drum Rack with the corresponding number of instances of Simpler being loaded.

Load times seem to have improved with 7.02. So either you changed/improved something or my system changed somehow. Was there a mention on the changelog concerning this?

Hm, it seems as if it has just been shifted from one place to the other. Load times of samples are much quicker now once you drag them on their destination cells. Problem is that dragging itself takes ages now with the ugly hourglass being shown until your finger falls of from having to keep the mouse-button pressed. :?
