Solo a midi track..HELP!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Post by robopop13 » Sun Dec 30, 2007 4:06 pm

I have a big problem...
When I hit the SOLO button on a midi track the audio track I use for the audio input of the external synth MUTE also...so...no sound at all.... :( Can I let this audio in track active??? )

When I use the external instrument module in live for a midi track ( with the proper midi port and audio input ) if I hit solo the others midi tracks that use the same audio in will still come out from the solo track because they are not realy muted ( Why can't we mute midi aswell when we hit SOLO?? )

What I would like to do is to be able to let an audio trak always 'open' in ableton live, even if I hit SOLO. Or to be able to solo MIDI track for real (I mean mute the midi of the other midi tracks)

I don't know if I'm clear but...let's hope someone could help....

sounds like you bring in many external synths via an outboard mixer, onto one ableton track?

solo the synth on the mixer..

;)

or get a soundcard with more inputs?

sorry not helpful

you can solo two tracks, i.e. the midi one and it's corresponding audio track

by using ctrl+click, or setting the preferences to solo exclusive=off

?

Do you have 7? If so, you could try to use the External Instrument device. I suppose you could plug this device into the track that controls the external synth thus soloing isn't muting the external input in question.

I haven't got 7 yet though, so I can't check if this really is the case.

Longjohns, thanks for your reply :D

You gave me the answer, A SOUNDCARD with more inputs. That is the only way to do what I want to do.

Joewes, thanks for your help :)
Yes I do have Live7 and ì did use the external instrument module, but as I said, I use the same input for many different midi tracks ( lets say 4 midi channels of my nord modular routed into the audio input 1/2 of my digi002 rack ), and the fact is that live don't mute the midi of the other tracks(STRANGE),it only deactivate the track and the midi still play in the background,so even if I SOLO the external instrument module, the others midi tracks will still be heard on the SOLO track thru the audio input. If I had more inputs in my soundcard and assign 1 audio input for each Midi track the ext inst module would have been PERFECT... WOW I think I've got a headache :?

ANYWAY!! THANKS THANKS THANKS for your HELP

I just wish I could deactivate the midi clip of the excluded track when I 'SOLO' a specific midi track..in live 7.0.2 maybe?

Happy New Year 2008!!! :D
