I haven't read much Computer Music, but the articles I've seen usually seem to bring the production of a track down to getting certain plug in, loading a preset, tweaking it a little, processing it some here and there and on to the next track. They don't seem to go much in depth with their articles, and I can see how that could be misleading.

In response to comments about their unique sound, Autechre argue that given the incredible range of tools available to modern composers, especially in the electronic genres, it is incomprehensible that any band should “sound like” any other band.
I.e., for me it's pretty sad that someone would want to sound like others using recipes from a magazine. There are some good parts about mastering and so on, but most of those electro/trance/minimalist recipes is just leading innocent newcomers on the wrong path, instead of expressing themselves they express some kind of bland sameness.

very good this dvd,
although all of the track building is done in logic....
it does give a good insight into structure, effects and using various plug ins..
when creating a trance track.
i do personally really like the track featured on the dvd,
it is his latest release "on the 7th day".
mr tate also throws in some nice handy tips about dos and donts in the music production game.
only downfall.....this can become a bit confusing when trying to do the same thing in live with buss channels etc.
but there are other ways round it!
