Sampler to Drum Rack

Post by Pasha » Wed Dec 26, 2007 12:14 pm

I have got some GM Drum soundfont sets I want to convert to Drum Racks.
If I import the SF in sampler it plays ok.
But how do I transform this to a multi velocity sampled Drum Rack?
Is this possible?

I then assume it's not possible.
Am I right?

Currently, I have not found a way.
Ableton’s engineers are hard
at work developing code that will allow our software to predict the future, but we don’t
anticipate having this available until at least the next major release.

It's a pity. I've got some very good SF, I really thought it could have been done, knowing that the reverse is possible... :?

I'm pretty sure it's not possible, the same way you can not assign 8 drum rack pads to trigger one instance of Impulse within a rack.

i guess an option would be to have a drum rack and a sampler inside one instrument rack... :?:

You could also use an Instrument Rack to host say two or three drum racks, depending on how many samples deep your velocity layers are, then utilize the velocity settings in the instrument rack. You might setup your first drumrack as you want, then use the copy/paste feature in Instrument Rack to duplicate the rack, then replace the samples.
