PC or MAC

If you had your choice of laptop hardware to run ableton + any external devices (such as a USB midi interface or audio device) would you go for a windows or mac machine?

Imagine you won some crazy ass prize where you got to build your dream audio laptop. Assuming you want to keep using ableton where would you go from there? What hardware? What OS? What externals?

My personal opinion is that in terms of mac VS PC, PC s are better deals in desktops due to the fact you can build your own for peanuts. In terms of laptops, macs are better, lighted keyboard, light, good looking (not fond of the glowing apple, but besides that ), able to boot both OS, and with good build quality. The basic stuff you get on even the macbook is nicer than a lot of PCs Gigibit ethernet, real firewire.... on the macbook you get firewire 800, and a monitor connection, bluetooth, and other niceties.

PC advantages are that some warrantee deals on the PC side are really good, and you can build a tank of a desktop replacement laptop for being an all in one machine, you could go as far as to design it with some upgradability in mind, and you can build it to swap out the DVD player for another hard drive for instance.

Anyway I would go mac on a laptop.

you mean An Apple computer or any other brand of PC
A Mac is a PC, is a windows machine,is a linux machine and is an OSX capable machine
Any other brand of computer is either a Windows or Linux capable system.. mind u there are a few "hackintoshes about

A Mac is a Mac. Mac is a brand name used by Apple Inc.. PC(-compatible) is a catch-all term for descendents of the IBM PC with an Intel 8086-derivative processor and BIOS firmware, designed to run Microsoft Windows. laptop PC (Lenovo's are built like tanks and can be pretty powerful)

my Vaio is pretty bomb - kind of on the bigger side - 15 inch widescreen but I love it

no problems - actually from time to time when I close it close to put it in hibernate mode it doesn't turn off

but it's usually some app or process still running (like ABLETON

)

but I love my computer - I've had MACS too and loved them just well

say, haven't we been down this road before?
