Hi,
You indeed have to make a time selection to choose what you want to render. you can do that by clicking and dragging the mouse, or choose "select all" in the edit menu, if you want to render the whole set, or set the loop brace in the arranger, and click it. That's a shortcut to select what's under the loop brace.

For Windows I do control->A once I have the track/tracks highlighted then render it out. Tweak it after for fade in/outs if I didn't do it beforehand or if too much fade in/out at beginning/end.
