Re: Active monitors
What is your budget? There was a guy on gearslutz forum once asking about cheap monitors, when asked what his budget was, he said, about 2000 dollars.jamief wrote:Hi people,

Presuming your budget is between 200 and 400, check out KRK RP, Event TR, Samson Rubicon, and Alesis.
I'm ordering a pair of Event TR6 this week and I'll let you know how I get on with them once they arrive.

I am running a pair of M-Audio BX8a 8" 2-way active monitors at ear level on my Project Studio desk. 130w power, they take XLR and/or 1/4" inputs. I think the KRK's take 3 (RCA as 3rd input type) or the RP8's. I forget which. At one point they were on-sale 50% for $500 for a pair but didn't buy them. Got the M-Audio's at a local Daddy's Junky Music store for $350 for pr. Normally $500. Flat response, not so easily portable but can be carried/moved around. They're 8" powered so they aren't going to be *light* weight.
