Dude, check out the Alesis AI-3. It'll convert your ADAT ins and outs to 8 analog ins and outs. They're discontinued (I think) but you can find them INCREDIBLY cheap on ebay. They're not the sort of gear that you might get emotional over, but they sure do the trick and they're solid + simple. I can't recommend it highly enough for expanding your 828 - that's exactly what I used mine for before I went mostly software.adhmzaiusz wrote:Korg soundlink digital mixer. Two of my worst hardware purchases
Back in the 1970s: a breathtakingly shitty Allen and Heath six channel mixer. I wanted to do solo multitracking and got a Teac 3340 and this piece of dog doo.
More recently: the MIDIcontrol keyboard. The idea of it was good but it was really a poorly built and poorly thought out piece of kit. I use the Oxygen 8 now which is a little better, but for knobs in general I like the Kenton Control Freak.

yeah i did exactly the same !! and that was before soft synths (when I was desperate for sounds of any sort !)

For people who don't know, it may impress.
The 720 k disks are hard to find these days...

Some keyboard genius was showing it off (name escapes me).
It was worth a pretty penny at the time. I dreamed of owning one for a long time after that. Glad I didn't ever have the cash to waste on it.
My regretful purchase was a roland drum machine. (can't remember the exact model) It was great, but a 'mate' borrowed it about 2 months after I bought it, and sold it to buy drugs.

Self builder PC in the windows 98 days.
+Terratec soundcard with built in waldorf HW synth.
Couple of years with computer/soundcard nightmares, nothing working proparly. Wasted about 4000 euroes right out the window.
Later got the Creamware combo: Pulsar, Luna, Scope, and the fw 8x breakout box, all new with the first drivers. Another 5-6000 eurous out the window.
sold it for almost nothing a few years later!
Crappy days.
Was coming from amiga in late 80ties, atari early 90ties, then mac mid 90ties, going through win95/98 days realy made me stay away from windows for years in fear and horror. I was back to mac around 2000, and things were swinging again. Then 2005 I finaly was convinced xp wouldnt kill me, and ive been on xp since then.

Dude seriously though as overpriced as the RM1x was, it's the closest hardware competitor to Live (other than RS-7000 which has the same engine)
Now the Korg Electribe EM1, I was conned into thinking it had all the functionality of the ER1 and the EA1. In fact, it had none of the above. What a twat, should have gone for the ER1. But I got it for 100 quid second hand, so I can't really complain.
