Activate the Activity Monitor and see what happens according to your mac.
Have you compared video editing between those two computers? 8) 8) 8)
In my expercience (but to each its own) I have noticed:
Macs are better and more comfortable for audio & video applications. PCs are better for webdesign and 3D animation and modeling (Maya and the like). Photo editing and DTP stuff all around, I think works well on both platforms. (Although Photoshop seems blazing fast on my iMac) But this is just my humble opinion and experience.
Also, keep in mind which is very important:
Windows Vista is more than a year old. Update counts: 0
Leopard is just a few months old and the 2nd update will be on the Apple site in about two weeks. Service Pack 3 for XP is finally released. But just dont quite yet though. And I also think they are a little bit too late with it because well you know... Vista is on the shelves for quite some time now

Here are the choices:

1. Windows at 14%
2. OSX at 16%

I'd choose OSX every time. I'd choose OSX if it were 30%.

The trick is to actually be your system administrator.

she says the acer has a Celeron chip. Doesn t this mean it s a single core?

And doesn t perhaps the meter in Live means, that the set uses 16% of one core, which would mean a lot less off the full Speed of the Mac?

I m saying this as a pc user, this Mac HAS to be faster than the Acer

didnt read the whole thread maybe it was already said but live seems to have problems with the santa rosa chipset or any other component of the macbook pro which has this chiset inside. massive difference in performance when compared to logic for example.

I would have thought the Mac would have scored better on cpu concidering it is a newer Intel Core Duo and faster cpu and mine is a older (slower??) Celleron procesor. Ah, we also did the same test on Windows side on his Macbook and running the same song set and Live 7 demo and got a little worse stats (15-17%)..
weird & why?
 just due windows is better jajajaj
na jaja just a joke i not like start one of that large post where everybody try to tell what OS is better.

This little or bigger diference of preformance exist in other softwares like photoshop, and other audio or graphic tools.............aparently windows outperform a little or a lot to OSX.....that is the reality...dont cry STEVE.
