Clip Region acting funny on arrangement loop recording

Post by Supro7 » Tue Jul 27, 2004 3:13 am

Hello,

I just upgraded to Live 4 from 3 and find that if I record in Arrangement view in say a 4 bar loop (with the loop switch on so that I can find the groove or whatever)...starting in the middle of the loop...say bar 2, by the time it comes back around to bar 2 again...and I have completed recording, when I turn off the global record button a full bar (sometimes more...sometimes less) disappears from the track display. I have gone through the friendly manual...I have messed with quantization settings. I never had this problem with 3...any idea what I am doing wrong? And to be more clear it is actually recording...it's just like the clip loop region is somehow not selecting enough to make a full loop. If I go to the clip display I can drag the clip marker to make the loop complete.

Sorry if I am doing something stupid or if this should have not been posted in the bug's section...it is just that sometimes it workes like it used to and sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks much for any thoughts!

p.s.
(P4 2.56mhz 500mg ram...2 hdds both 7200... I am getting less than 8%cpu load and no errors on the disk drive...)

Could I be the ONLY ONE with this problem??? Help!!!!!

I haven't had anyone else respond to this so I am posting again.

I don't get this problem when recording with midi...just audio. I want to use Live 4. I have paid for Live 4. It's on my computer...but I am stuck (10 hours a day) on live 3 because of this problem. I emailed [email protected] but haven't heard a word.

I would appreciate it if someone could try to reproduce this problem so I know if it is me or the software.

Thanks!

Hi Supro7,

sorry for the lack of responsiveness. Most of our developers are on their
deserved vacation after the release so forum threads may take a bit
longer to get answered.

What you describe is indeed a bug. Apparently we introduced it in one of the
last Beta versions while fixing something else. We try hard to avoid things
like this but it can nonetheless happen.

I've been able to reproduce this only if the loop starts right at the song start.
If the loop starts later, things seem to work. Maybe this works for you
as well as a workaraound until the next bugfix release.

HTH,
Stefan

Stefan,

Thank you very much for answering my question.

Your developers do indeed deserve a vacation, I am just glad to know that the issue is not mine and that the software will eventually do exactly what I need it to.

Your workaround will be just fine for me until the bug is fixed. I also only have this bug at the beginning of the song. I never thought to try to recreate it later in the song.

Thanks again for the workaround!!!
