Everytime I bounce audio, there is quality degradation. So frustrated! Could somebody please try my 3 tests below and tell me if it works for them??? Thanks
If I record from one track to another (the source can be a softsynth or a sample), the resulting track is not exactly the same as the source (I have done a file compare in Wavelab).
At first I noticed the timing was slightly out, so I went through the Driver Error Compensation (DEC) test. Having successfully completed that, I could see that audio being routed out, and back into the audio device, was recording in time. However, if I bounce the file, it is again not the same as the source.
All in all there are 3 ways I have tried bouncing files, all unsuccessfully. Simplest first:
1)Drop a sample into an arrangement track. Render the track to disc. Compare the original to the rendered file. They are not the same.
2)Drop a sample into an arrangement track. Record the file into another track. Upon zooming in fully, I can see that the start points of the 2 tracks differ by a frame or 2.
3)Drop a sample into an arrangement track, output to external channel. Record on another track that is using that same external channel as input. Having completed the DEC test above, I can see that the samples look identical, and there is identical spacing at the start of the samples. But when I render both of these to disc, and compare them to each other, as well as the original, they are all 3 different.
HELP!!! I seem to have tried everything, including:
* using a different audio device
* unplugging all other devices from my notebook
* making sure that the FADE, WARP options are off
* when rendering, and recording, making sure all unused inputs are set to no inputs to avoid any possible background noise.
*checked monitoring options to make sure that there isn't 2 signals being recorded/sent to the master.
Thanks for your time
Justin
p.s. I posted yesterday as the first half for this problem, sorry about the repost.

I can not remember now, what the last update for version 6 was. but I think it was 6.1...... something... perhaps you need to log into your ableton account and download the latest version of live 6... i deleted live 6 when I installed 7 on my machine... but honestly I think I remember a 6.1... something...

so maybe he just needs to log into his ableton account and update to the latest version of 6...
meanwhile it could be a plug in problem... or.... he is having a delay time when recording to another track because his markers might not be set properly....
sometimes ableton can be tricky when you record track 2 track, believe me, i do that all the time... and although it might sound different, you have to keep in mind a synth is always moving.

j2j:
The thing is, it is not just a delay issue - I got that (mostly) sorted with the compensation test. There is a definite degradation of the sound quality. And it occurs whether I am bouncing from synth, or a sample.
It even occurs when I simply load up a sample, and then bounce that, without doing anything to it.
I am going to upgrade to 6.10 though, hopefully that will sort it out. Please god...

To be honest with you mate. I do not think Live is the problem. it must be something else in your set up. I am recording track to track inside live all the time. and You can get a delay... if you markers are not set... or you will get a latency if you have a billion things running. but um... I get no change in audio quality...
( or no change a human being can actually hear... )
so what is the audio card? what are the live settings? and what synths are you using?
