I used the new SampleTank 2 Free in Live 4 and it used up 50% of the CPU. Is this true for the real version?

I could be wrong but Id check with IK multimedia first as Im pretty sure that they do not allow license transfers. Therefore whoever bought it would not be a legal user.

If the license can be transferred... looks like a great deal! But I think there is some kind of restriction on license transfers -- don't know if it's IK (SampleTank) or Sonic Reality (add-ons that don't concern this sale) but there could be a hitch. Better check on it first.

By the way: it's still possible to order the the Sonic Synth 1 / SampleTank 2 LE / OmniSynth bundle at the price -- $109 -- and with the extras that the group buy earned. No sign-up, just go to esoundz.com and order away.

What you can't do is break the total for more goodies and a lower price. :-) That deadline got extended and extended, but the price won't get any higher either -- and Squids tossed in some great extras even though we missed the target twice.

Several upgrade options are offered once you buy. My favorite is the "Everything package" with all five sample library CDs for $99 more. That's a heck of a lot of sounds for $208! I chose this one, and will upgrade to XL in a month or two.

There's a little under two weeks to take advantage of the original bundle and the upgrades... then they're gone, the sample libraries are back to normal prices, and Sonic Synth 1 will no longer be for sale.

Whether you go for the $109 bundle or the Everything bundle, if you get ST2LE or ST1LE in your bundle, it's worth $200 off the price of SampleTank 2 XL (that is, you can upgrade for $300). That's still a lot more expensive than $150. But as I said, there might be a gotcha with licensing.

For what it's worth, I bought ST2 and found the sample library to be bland and lifeless. The stretch feature is also very quirky. It's on the shelf gathering dust.

Hi, Sheridan. The ST1 samples I listened to a year ago or so seemed to be a mixed bag -- some great, some okay, a few I didn't like at all. That was "out of the box" on a friend's machine. When I played around with the effects things got livelier. Of course, that can't salvage every sound but there were still soooo many in there that I liked that it seemed like a good thing.

Then came version 2, which looked better still... Couldn't afford it though. The group buy was just the thing. :-)

Comes down to "I like this, you like that" probably. No one product will please every musician, it's very subjective and even the same person will change opinions and tastes over time. S'okay, variety is cosmic.

I am sorry you bought the product and aren't getting the value out of it. That's never much fun. :-S

SampleTank 2 definitely eats a lot of CPU, but has excellent sounds and they are all tweakable, so possibilites are endless. Sometimes I just fiddle around and play stuff live and record to an audio track in Pro Tools. Then I can make loops out of the good parts and bring them into Ableton. Sometimes I'll sample the sounds into my EPS or MPC and sequence in there along with other samples.

It's definitiely worth picking up!!!
