an odd slaved microkorg problem.

Post by jakt » Tue Jan 08, 2008 7:24 am

whenever i add a VST, sample, channel, send, or adjust a parameter, my slaved microkorg goes silent. it will play through a song perfectly until i have to do any adjustments to any tracks (not specifically the korg).

i know that ableton is accepting audio, and is sending midi, but the korg itself will not make a sound until i reboot it. which is a real pain.

anyone ever heard of this?

that's weird.

Does the microkorg stop responding to MIDI, or is it receiving MIDI OK just making no sound?

Maybe for some weird reason Live is sending it a volume CC = 0 message, but I doubt it.
Hit a key on the Korg and see if it makes sound, maybe it is just losing sync, as opposed to losing the ability to make sound??

Or maybe Live is sending out some weird thing over MIDI which the korg recognizes as a NRPN... in which case I bet you can fix this by going into the korg's MIDI receive settings and changing them. I don't have the mikrokorg in particular, but I know my korg gear has mutliple modes for what sort of MIDI data they receive and what they filter out.

Barring that, you can also adjust what sort of data Live sends out, under the MIDI preferences. What do you have enabled there? Hopefully MIDI Beat Clock, but no other sync. Go into this panel and stard turning stuff off one at a time.
