Thats so weird, everytime i drag an mp3 onto ableton (even without exporting it) it automatically creates an alias file as a wav. so basically i have the same track 2 one as a wav and one as an mp3.
plus.. i cant set up my library. everytime im trying to find a library or any folder it justs says, make sure the path is writable.
i just moved from pcs to macs and being a huge supporter of ableton 6 i moved onto 7 but im really dissapointed.
any help would be appreciated

mp3 is compressed. It cannot be read without being decompressed at some point. To do it on the fly would not be efficient for smooth playback.
You have some control over the decoding cache in preferences.
Your library problems sound like some kind of permissions or security setting, which I can't help with
