problem with latency.......

Hi,
Here is my configuration : - Powerbook mac 10.4.10.
- Sound card M audio Firewire 410.
- Live abelton 6.0.10.

When i record something on an audio track, i have latency (with the biggest buffer size in Live).....so i put a little buffer size, but then i have crakles.....
And, with a big buffer size, when i try to change driver error compensation, nothing change.....
Help!!!!
