vsti render flakiness

Post by kongbalong » Mon Aug 09, 2004 3:55 am

I had a track with Reaktor as a VSTi on it.
It sounded fine when I was playing it back within Live, but when rendering the track was silent.

I replaced the Reaktor VSTi with a totally different VSTi (the Cheeze Machine) and it still behaved the same-- working fine during playback but missing from the render.

Eventually I created a new midi track and copied all the midi clips to it. I added Reaktor to that one, and it played fine and showed up in the render correctly.

It's as if the previous midi track somehow "went bad".

Windows XP. 1.8 Ghz P4, 768MB Ram. M-Audio Audiophile 2496

it's my understanding that some plugins don't support the 'render' interface; they only support realtime operation.

well, it did eventually work when i moved the plugin and clips to a new track.

i also forgot to mention in my previous post that I did try restarting Live -- even rebooting -- but the broken track persisted.

For Rendering there is nothing like a special support of the plug-in required. If something doesn't work, it is most likely a bug in Live.

It would help if we find a pattern when rendering with VSTis doesn't work.

If I had been thinking correctly, I would have saved the project with the broken track, but I didnt' expect to be able to fix it.

If it happens again, I'll be sure to send it.
