Controlling hardware like software.

Hi and hello,

I was thinking .. (yeah!) 8O

The ability to control every parameter in Live 4 of a vst instrument is just amazing ! And very very very easy (try cubase or logic on this one) to midi map the cc's to a controller.

Now,

What I was thinking. Why can't we control our hardware like this ?! I think this would be the best thing I ever could wish for. Maybe the Ableton's can make, just like we have now for softsynths, a control view for the most common synths of today. Heck I even will make it by myself. Add faderbar, name, cc number, -64/+64 or 0/127, whatever .. Just something to insert in a midi track .. then Live would really implement hands on control (regarding automation also).

Can't be that difficult can it ?

I mean this view..

The only problem is that hardware isn't really standardised. Especialy stuff like the nord modulars where control parametres depend on the patch.

I'd love a generalised VST plugin that sent out definable midi controllers from nameable faders. different 'sets' could be stored as snapshots.

actually, surely it just have to have the faders - Live can send out the controllers out it's remote control out interface....

Emagic's sounddiver works a treat for editing hardware from the computer. i used to use it all the time in os9. it even has a randomise function which can produce some mental results. it really allows you 'under the bonnet' of your synths and lets you do stuff so quickly that normally would take lots of menu scrolling. i think a version for osx is just being beta'd.

maybe a plugin from the Ableton's.
You drag it so it's the last effect to go to the midi output.
This plugin contains 128 sliders (cc1-128) all wich can be named by selecting a slider and press ctrl-e.
Then save preset :)

Topic starter logged in (finally) ..

In fact.. Why is it NOT possible to remote control the envelopes in session clips but yes we can remote control the envelopes in the arranger .. (?!)..

Strange ? :(
