Well i'm involved with a vocalist and a turntabalist (heh, yes, not a dj).
i've bought a small mixer (compact 4) for this and wondered what the best way to set this up is. any help appreciated.
i've thought about this but i want it all on seperate tracks and also be able to jam.
further compounding the problem is how to jam with everyone and not get double sound from the vocalists mic. ie. he will be auditioning via the main speakers to improvise yet also recorded would be the mix into his track.
is this just impossible to do other than put him in his own room with headphones?
How to jam with a vocalist?

Eza, i'm not exactly sure what you want to do, perhaps you could re-word it a little.
I'll take a guess though,
you want to hear the vocalist in the PA, and you also want to record the vocalist into Live 4 for re-sampling etc.
I'm not familiar with the mixer but I assume it has some kind of AUX SEND.
What you do is connect the auxillery send from the mixer to the laptop (I'm guessing you only have a stereo audio input). in Live, turn OFF monitoring of audio.
Now you can hear the vocalist in the speakers, and a 'copy' is also being sent via the auxillery sends from your mixer to your Live4 box.
hope that helps
