It still looks like the sh*t, though. Talk about compact. Looks like Access' answer to the Blofeld.

Wait, speaking of SNOW, remember this one? :P

My TI never had a single bandwidth issue due to USB1.1, so I've got no issue with this being 1.1 as well. I definitely will be picking one of these up, I miss my TI immensely.

The reason they went for USB 1.1, dear people, is because it uses less cpu, power and whatnot. USB1.1 is plenty to transfer MIDI, a few audio signals or in this case whatever Virus code goes through the cable... You should prefer USB 1.1. The MOTU USB card for example does use 2.0 because it has more streaming to do.
Connecting lots of bus powered USB 2.0 devices to a laptop will result in problems....

Does someone have info on the price?

Actually there have been rumors of a mini virus for years... there was even a picture of a Virus-mini-C prototype that access decided not to make which was featured in a sound-on-sound interview.

I was on the Virus TI beta team, and it was NOT because of power of CPU issues. The main reason 1.1 was used in stead of two, was that the USB hardware and chipsets (I forget the actual term Access used) related USB audio transfers was not readily available on USB2.0 at the time, which would have meant Access would have had to develop these from scratch, It would have added significantly to the price of what is already an expensive synth.

Don't get me wrong, I too would have loved to see a firewire or USB2 version, but for the current specs, the USB1.1 spec is more than enough for the TI's.

Hopefully this will be around the $700 range.
hmm isn't that just a wish?

On the other hand, looking at the other access products a compact
version of some stuff might just go around that range. dunno of course

you can get a used Virus C for around 700 dollars or less. I'd go there before even considering one of these, to be honest. UI is everything.

Thats what I was thinking when I first seen it. Lets just hope all of the people that buy one bitch enough to get that implemented. Access has a pretty good rep with updating their products and filling the demand of its users.

About buying a Virus C or whatever was mentioned, I say screw that. For people that dont have audio interfaces this would be a much better buy. And this has far more sonic possibility than the other Virus synths. Also using the total intergration will work fine for me as i have a Novation SL Zero and will be making a little custom template for the Snow.

The only reason (and I do mean the ONLY reason) I didn buy a Virus TI was because of the USB 1.1 thing.

If it had either firewire (over which audio and midi transfer was already common at that time, so it's no excuse) or USB 2.0, they could have had the DAW route multiple audio out from the synth's outputs. It could have been a true one-shot solution... Synth and soundcard (and as almost any performer will tell you, having multiple discrete outs is a critical must, even just a second stereo pair for cueing).

Access totally fucked up with the Virus TI. Until they get their head out of the consumer-grade mentality, they'll never get anywhere. Adding new oscilators and a bijillion new voices? Whoop-de-do. Yawn. It's just MORE, not better. Now, Total Integration was a fantastic idea, but they half-assed it, and it's totally not worth it to me.

My $0.02, anyways.

can you use the usb for control, and direct the outs to inputs on same computer? i have no need for the interface...you know what i mean?
