Dead Macbook Pro battery

keep in mind: the more memory you have , the more battery you need.

batteries have been known to choke after about a year. I believe a lot of warrenties only cover batteries for a year. Ive had some last for a few years, and some only last a year.

I actually bought an extra battery with my mbp a year ago planning for the battery to die.

fwiw: i usually always leave mine plugged in, except for on planes or in coffee shops.

ok, i understand this and as i upgraded to 2gb of memory in my b i think its pretty normal for the battery to run out faster.

BUT, do you think that this has to do also with the latency or immediate switching off?

Just wondering, is ok to leave your machine plugged in to the mains all the time, or is better to work your butt off... I mean, your battery?

I run mine (Macbook) off the battery most of the time, it's supposed to be better for them. I had an old Ti powerbook that stayed plugged in more or less permanently and its battery ran out of juice pretty quickly.

My Dad has a MBP and had exactly the same problem as the OP's and he kept it plugged in all the time. Apple Genius replaced the battery on the spot despite the laptop being out of warranty because they've apparently extended the battery warranty on the MBPs to two years after all the problems people were having. I'm sure there's a tech note about it somewhere on Apple's website.

Anyway, the Genius recommended following the battery calibration routine in the manual then running it off battery all the time. Pops does that now, so do I, and it seems to do the job perfectly.

Could you give me some links where i can find helping topics on the batter issues for powerbook?

I have it plugged most of the time, and now that i upgraded to 2gb of ram the battery run out fast.
