If you have the CD, you can insert it and you have the AIFF files already -- just copy tracks directly from the CD to your computer through the Finder.
If you don't have the CD, but just the MP3 of the sound, or you are connecting to a streaming server, then you can use an application like Audio Hijack to "rip" the audio out of an application -- such as iTunes, DVD Player, Real Player, etc. -- pouring it into an AIFF file.
Audio Hijack is available here:

Once you have AIFFs of your music, you can then use Spark ME or another two-channel editor (Sound Studio, Spark LE, Spark LE Plus, Peak, etc.) to cut out the sample from the sound file.
Spark ME is free and available here:
-- http://www.tcworks.de/home/content/en/P ... render_top
Once you cut out the sample, save it as an AIFF with a good name, and you're ready to bring it into Live!
I do this frequently, renting bad movies with great lines that I distort past the point of recognition.
Just the other day, I turned the line, "They sucked his brains out!" from Starship Troopers into the core of a spitting ambient track, thanks to the timestretching, pitch distortion and beat quantization in Live -- never mind any VST effects!
