We're only cool to people with foreign accents. I once was about to break a beer bottle over this one asshole's head for giving my girl "the glance" until he said "beautiful girl mate". So I bought him a few shots, let him crash at my apartment for a week, and him and my girl are getting married in April. Cool cat, really.sweetjesus wrote:one thing i dont get is americans on the whole are totally nice people.. not once when i was in usa did i come across anyone uncool...
Oh no you don't.chrysalis33rpm wrote:^^^Sorry for going OT, I'll be sure and confine my comments to the precise subject of the thread in the future.

dango: i dont think u need tin foil, ur pretty much spot on.
We're generally nice but very naive, I keep sayin'.
Help me figure out what you're talking about here, if not what everyone else is talking about...
in a thread called 'police state' You're quoting a guy answering the question "what's the solution then?" , with "more war brother, more war" ...and as a sidenote to that statement he states his confusion that the americans he's met were 'nice'. that alludes to something wouldn't you say. irony that in a war loving country he's meeting nothing but 'nice' people. and you continue with "it's a rough time to be an american, we're nice but naive"
go ahead and convince me you were speaking arbitrarily & OT.
until then I stick to my conclusion that you are a FOOL for bandying the word 'nice' about as if it means something in this context.
spreader of butter
one thing to consider about the american people-
they're armed. when a lot of hippies are complaining it's one thing;
they'll get beat up on.
but as soon a the gov't starts to take away the ipods, tv's and the right to own gas guzzling vehicles, armed america will have a shit fit and set things straight.
the military standing up and taking action against the gov't is the scariest possibility...
like we need a brainwashed war-loving general in charge....

Chill bounce - I wasn't commenting on the whole tangent of the thread, I haven't even seen the video that was linked to at the beginning (I am at work and can't watch it).
I was glad that SJ had some positive impressions of Americans, and I expressed it. I am also confused by the fact that Americans are such nice people in person (OK, nice can often be superficial, yes you get the genius award for having noticed that) but America is such a warlike nation. It's not really more complicated than that - and the comment was really only intended for SJ (next time I should PM him to avoid upsetting you.)

I suppose the more war thing was pure irony, and next up we just agreed that in general the americans we've had any contact to have been nice people. Chrysalis said that they WERE nice usually, but a bit naive..b0unce wrote: in a thread called 'police state' You're quoting a guy answering the question "what's the solution then?" , with "more war brother, more war" ...and as a sidenote to that statement he states his confusion that the americans he's met were 'nice'.
But fine then, if you say that americans are only fine in the top and rotten down under I can't do much. Afterall I have a foreign accent.
But thats not so much different from anywhere else. There is a few
good people in this world. People who don't hurt others, or at least feel
very guilty when they do no matter who it is.
Way too few..
edit: forgot to add Mate and do a few spelling errors here and there not to seem as a native
