Omnisphere "coming September 2008"

Jeez, what takes these guys so long? Why even debut it at NAMM if it;'s not coming out until the 4th quarter of the year? I also don;t rememebr seeing this many buzzwords such as "Psychacoustic", "Steam engine" and "Flex Mod". That's a lot of buzz... where do they learn this stuff from, Roland?

What else have these guys been doing besides creating a convoluted duct-tape intel version of their current products...

Ohhh... a new soft synth... for $499!!!

Big facking deal. Meanwhile the chumps who bought Atmosphere three years ago still have to use there duct-tape fix if they want to run it on their macbook, or other intel based Mac.

Had a tiny tiny little hope for a modular RMX2 w/envelope matrix, and *cough* up to date interface. Dreaming about Reason interface and RMX sound... Killed forever...

Well, if its a real synth (not a rompler) it sounds kinda good...

Following closely (12 months) with the NAMM 2009 teaser of the 9 month to wait preview of the Trilogy 2, w/Bass from outer Space!

As one of the few people who doesn't like RMX, I will also say that I am thoroughly underwhelmed at the announcement of yet another mega synth.

My friend and fellow producer bought Atmosphere three years ago. He picked up a macbook pro a little while back and has been unable to use Atmosphere since. I would be surprised if Omnisphere didn't sound good; there products typically sound amazing, when they are comnpatable.

Spectrasonics basically fucked everyone who bought Atmosphere by releasing a new version but calling it something else. It's also $499. What will the upgrade price be? My guess is about $300...

Not worth it. Spectrasonics is the reason some people still only use hardware. You buy a product for good dough, in the case of Atmosphere, $400. In two years you can't use it anymore.

Meanwhile the Roland Juno that you have had for 20 plus years is still fully functional...

my main problem with stylus is that EVERY SINGLE BEAT is too busy. there aren't any simple beats in there, you have to strip shit out of everything if you want to use it and, at that point, why not just program the beat yourself?

I reckon strap a tazer to each of the developers chairs and set it off unless they write 100 lines of code per hour, quash 5 bugs or try to get up for a break.....

I'm with you on that! i love it for atmospheric additions, glitchy stuff and chaos.....

honestly I've switched to guru cause i get exactly what I program and no extra Eric pricing's techno....

Well the few times I have had to use RMX in a studio I haven't even bothered with the "beats", but instead I went straight for the chopped sounds (what's that mode called again?) - much cooler, but still with quite a "rompler" feel to it.

It may be that their new product isn't a rompler, but then why on earth brag that it comes with 30-40 gigs of content? I mean, isnt that just about the *definition* of a rompler?!?
