This helped me in Live 6:
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50555

I have no idea about Live 7. Anyway, the above fix lets you use the center click button on a pen to make adjustments on faders, knobs and envelopes without all the crazy jumping.

The whole problem is how Live takes over the mouse when making the adjustments in envelopes , faders and sliders. Notice when you click, the mouse disappears. When you release the button, the cursor appears right where it was left off. Touchscreens and tablets work by forcing the mouse to move where the touch is sensed or the pen is located- hence the jumping to crazy values when using a touchscreen or tablet.

I once used a tablet. Now I use a touchscreen. For the touchscreen, I keep a mouse and keyboard connected and I mouse in the fine adjustments and touch for selecting phrases to play and moving phrases around. It takes some practice, however.

pen2Live seems to be windows only, but thanks for linking to that thread, I missed that one myself.

I wonder how Live will work with ThinSight technology.

Live would have to be changed to properly respond to multiple touches. They'd also need to re-write the knob/fader/envelope adjustments to not take over the cursor as they do. For now, it would likely react the same as a touch screen or tablet.

yes please. I'm an animator by day, and always have a tablet plugged in. bit of a pain that this doesn't work right.

I think Live should be changed for that, because multi-touch is already coming to life and in the end will change the way people interact with computers (both PC and Mac). and what's more important - multi-touch is very usable for music making. so I think Ableton should prepare for that already.

im really disapointed ableton haven't listened to the numerous requests for wacom support. it wouldn't be hard, someone else has already made third party stuff that does it with a bit of fiddling - its not a perfect solution though.

just in case ableton - you think its not that important, here are the related threads i found for requests on wacom support and live 6 and 7, and it still didn't happen-

can you give us a reason why it shouldn't happen?
- all youd need is an option in the prefs that would alter the way your faders do that smooth interpolation without stopping movement of the mouse point when it is unclicked.

as for me, there is 2 huge main bugs in Ableton Live: 128 parameters automate limitation and lack of tablet support.

so, bump.

I'd like to add a wish for Wacom too. I try to use a tablet as much as possible now because i get RSI problems when using a mouse too much. Just basic support is all that is needed.

/here come's chuck norris and roundhouse kickin' the thread to the top/

I bet we will not see this bug fix until at least 128 parameter bug will be fixed. anyway, bump.

Bump to the max. Got a Wacom Intuos wide tablet today and it rocks.
Haven't tried it with Ableton yet.
What's wrong exactly at the moment?

parameter adjust, and moving automation dots is lagging on tablets, jumping between min and max
