Please forgive a MIDINOOB

Post by divisional » Sat Jan 19, 2008 1:26 am

If this is a completely stupid question, consider me slapped, but I am feeling a little restricted with my tiny Ozone, and am considering a new keyboard/controller deal to go with my Trigger Finger and my new Mac Pro :D

It occurred to me that I have this Korg O1W/FD full size keyboard that I have had for ages... (late 80's early 90's maybe?) sitting in a closet.

Could I use this as a MIDI controller for Live?

Would it require extensive knowledge of MIDI that I most likely don't have?

Thank you very much.

hook it right up to any midi input you may have - I believe the ozone has one?

It should work more or less out of the box... if not, then just come back with more specific questions. We love geeking out about midi!

Andreas.

hmmm... I will have to check on the velocity sensitive part... that could be a deal breaker for me. Thanks.

I appreciate that. I came from 4-tracks and 8-tracks and tend to record in "arrange" view and keep things linear in my mind, and I would like to break out of that pattern. I need to get my midi geek on!
