this beast is sick. they even incorporated a synth and arpegiator into it.

i believe they are dropping the 4000 from their product line.

what's up with that little porta akai? you can't load your own samples or did i understand that wrong? l it's like a 500 with pretty lights. i would like to see the 1000 and 2500 released with those blue moog-esque lights. that would be sweet and mo betta for the dark studio.

Shouldnt the buttons be labelled like "Yo", "Bitch", "Da Shit", "Bling".. etc??

They have dropped that ages ago. I havent seen an update for my unit in about 4 years now.......

I played with the 5000 for about 30 minutes today. I think it's pretty cool. The synth on it sounds great and is highly tweakable. It's the only mpc that ever made me consider using an mpc.

It has no keygroups, only 1 LFO per voice and no modulation matrix. its 16bit and 44khz. This IS a joke. lol
It is much more fun to tweak your own looped waveforms in a keygroup(s) rather then using an onboard synth. With the modulation matrix and keygroups you can do great stuff. You could also layer keygroups and make big synths like this. The MPC4000 has ADDSR envelopes (AMP, filter) , two indepentent LFO' s and an advanced modulation matrix and some. You can also setup velocity sensitive layers etc... You can let the MIDI velocity manipulate the start point(s) of a sample for example. And/or let a random LFO alter a triple filter. I dont see why this is an upgrade to the MPC4000, which was their previous "fagship" model... The MPC5000 also looks a bit stupid with all thos tiny faders and tedious knobs

it's all over for AKAI with this 5000 thing.
