MPD24 Recognized in PC but not Ableton

Hi,

I have an MPD24 and it is recognized on my core duo, 1gb ram, xp pro sp2, dell laptop, when I view it as a USB Audio device within the device manager. But Ableton does not recognize it as a MIDI device. It's collecting dust.

Any suggestions or solutions? Thanks.

Ableton doesn't see it as a USB device on my laptop. When I go to preferences > MIDI sync, all I can see is the lousy built in MS wavetable MIDI device.

But the device manager recognizes the Akai as a USB audio device.

I wish I had a question about mappings. That would mean I'm getting somewhere.
