motif and live7

I'm trying top get the Motif sounds into live 7. I get a midi signal, but no sound and I selected 'external instrument"

MIDI does not magically transnit audio.

You'll need to use standard audio cables coming from the Motif to an audio interface in order to record audio from the Motif to Live.

I have a Tascam Us-122 Audio/Midi interface. What kind of standard cables? I have two cables L/R lines going into the interface. Will I have to get another interface?

You'll need 1/4" connectors, standard 1/4" cables from your synth into the audio interface box. I have a pair of them going into my Omni Studio M-Audio breakout box. It has 4 ins/outs 1/4" but two front inputs are eiher XLR or 1/4" cable capable. I have my outputs going to my M-Audio BX8a 8" powered monitors. This will allow you to hear the audio as you're recording it even if you are recording in via MIDI. But in order to get it to audio that way you'll need to record the MIDI track to an audio track. Or if you're really good at playing record audio straight in.

I was able to get audio out by routing channels in Live with the Motif.
