hello folks. i upgraded to live7 and encountered problems. i now would like to go back to using version 6 for the time being, and was wondering if someone could let me know if there are certain things i should re-install. is there a live 7 uninstaller? are there folders i should get rid of? thanks for any help!
ps. the only reason i ask is because i noticed that when i installed live 7 there was a moment where it was updating something...so i'm thinking something other than what is in the application folder was modified.

I'm using a MacBook with OSX 10.4.9 with 1GB ram and an Edirol USB AudioCapture UA-25 interface.
I upgraded to Live 7.0.2b3, restarted the computer, and then opened a previous set that I was working on. As soon as I started playback (five midi channels, each playing an Operator patch), the sound started stuttering. It seemed like a sample rate problem, so I looked in the Preferences, but it was set at 44100, as it was in the system preferences (I checked there as well). The stuttering didn't go away until I turned the Latency buffer size all the was up to 2048 samples. If this is normal for this update, then I'll deal for the time being, but it does seem a bit abnormal for it to have to be so high. The thing is, I depend on Live for day to day composing, and if there are other problems with this release that it seems, from all the other posts, that I will run into; then I'd rather go back to using 6.0.10, where I didn't have too many troubles other than occasional crashes,. where I usually was able to recover from where I left off.

just to update.
i read through alot of the posts related to live7, and i decided to upgrade my macbook with 4gb of ram.
i looked into downgrading to version 6 of live, but decided that i'd stick with version 7.0.2b3 and wait for b4 to arrive.
i also updated the driver for my edirol ua-25, as edirol issued a new one in november of last year that i missed. although i am not going to leopard anytime soon, it is apparently compatible with leopard.
i also read through the nice documentation ableton has provided that lets you read through whilst running the program, and found some step-by-step directions for optimizing ableton with my system.
if people would like to go back to version 6, it is fairly easy to find all the various folders for live and just delete them, unless you have some particular presets you'd like to keep, then they should be backed up before deleting all the ableton folders.
i found the majority of presets (this is on a mac running osx) in: user/documents/ableton library
it is interesting to note that live7 deals with memory usage in relation to clips (tell me if i'm wrong). it would be nice to know exactly how this is changed from version 6, as it might be the root of some people's problems.
it seems like a lot of problems are being caused by various different digital interfaces, which probably need to have driver updates.

I'm confused. Live 7 is .o1??? I think.
I am not into computer coding so it is a little hard 2 follow, but live 7.0.2 is a beta?
right? for the update that is coming?
kipling, if you want the live 7 you have to download the proper version in your Ableton account.
I have no problems with live 7.... except it is not very good at cooking dinner, it has been the greatest sex partner, but Ableton is working on these things.
Ah, least to say, I think the proper Live is 7.0.1 and any beta might cause problems... that is why I do not help with the beta's. I do not like beta testing. But hey, that is how I became an Ableton Customer.

you are right, live doesn't help with the popcorn, but it has helped me make dinner a couple of times. i do think it is getting up there in the fat content though...
