My downtempo pumping trance tracks

Post by mook@skewer » Mon Jan 21, 2008 9:43 am

Hi gang,

Right, have finaly got some of my stuff sorted and up on MySpace - http://www.myspace.com/mookskewer .

Don't pay too much attention to The Pinultimate, it's a work in progress and is being changed quite dramactically. The other three however are pretty much finished.

Fin was my first downtempo trance effort, which I quite like. Then more recently I finished Set - managed to get sidechain compression working in Live 6 so happy with that. The latest track is C 4 Yourself, a mildly hauting track with piano playing a big part, and again some sidechaining to give it that pump.

Any feedback appreciated :D

Have redone Fin a little, some of the mixing and overall mastering needed attention, particularly the filtered intro and outro sequences which needed a fair bit of compression to keep the volume reasonable while the frequencies opened out. Also added mild EQ sweeps throughout the main verse sequence to add some movement.

Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Nicely done mook! I listened to Set and C 4 Yourself. Catchy stuff with nice touches throughout. Hard to get a really good handle on the mix thru the myspace compression, but it sounded pretty good here.

Hey dude,
you have some cool tunes up.
"C 4 yourself" is a rad track.
You have some depth in all of them that's for sure. As polyslax said, it's hard to rate the mix due to mp3s etc, but they are sounding good.
Keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the feedback, and glad they're going down well :D

Have to agree that the MySpace mp3 quality is naff. I've got them as 192kbps mp3s and they sound perfectly fine on my iTunes but on MySpace they loose a hell of a lot of the shine and depth that should be there :(

I've got an account with Soundclick which I need to overhaul, will probably take a couple of weeks as I'm also trying to learn VB.NET and find a job :o

In the middle of another track at the minute in the same vein, so that might pop up soon too.

Also, didn't realise you could now put six tracks on MySpace so have uploaded a couple of my chillout tracks too - The One (remastered) which has soundclips from The Matrix and Savannah which has a African drums and vocal influences. They should appear in the next few hours.

Thanks again, and keep the comments coming :D

Latest track is now finished and loaded up to my MySpace page!

It goes by the name of Tokyo Dreams and is another of the downtempo trance tracks with reasonable use of sidechain compression on the bass and pad. I've done my usual method of building chords and harmonies with various instruments to give a reasonably full sound.

Comments welcome as usual :)

Nice sound. Aforementioned limitations of myspace aside I can tell they would sound pretty good. I'm not usually a fan of movie monologue samples, but I quite enjoyed "The One". In general I spent a fair amount of time nodding my noggin. Any where we can get a download?
